Hard Drive Crash
2 weeks ago all eSite machines
were upgraded including esitehost.dmcinternet.co.uk
the primary server that handles the
bulk of hosting accounts. Unfortunately
due to a faulty batch of hard drives
we have had to make an attempt to
restore data file by file. This has
now been done. We are aware that a
handful of people are experiencing
issues with sub-ftp accounts and mail.
If you are having these problems please
attempt to re-do your setting through
your control panel alternatively drop
an email to support@esitehost.co.uk
and we will contact you to guide you
through the process.

Account Abuse
After reports of mail issues on
Monday we started to investigate possible
causes of mail delivery problems.
We unfortunately uncovered many issues
caused by account abuse from 2 our
of clients, this had resulted in deteriorated
server performance and attacks against
the eSite Hosting machines.
We had to unfortunately withdraw some
services whilst we investigated these
issues. After manually transferring
all files to a new HD full service
was restored at 9pm (15/2) we have
introduced a quality of service system
to monitor incoming and outgoing traffic
for possible misuse of the service
to ensure our customers no longer
have to suffer problems caused by
other users.
As an apology for this occurance we
are giving users the chance to upgrade
FREE OF CHARGE, if
you want further details please email
support@esitehost.co.uk.

EasyNET DoS Problems
As from 6.57am our Easynet connection
has been experiencing serious packet
loss and in some periods small outages,
after liasing with Easynet this is
apparently the continuation of the
attacks yesterday, they have unfortunately
been stepped up this morning and have
exceeded Easynet's precautions. We
have however changed to the GXN connection
through our BGP4 system and everything
is currently running as normal.
It would appear a core router in Easynet
is either being attacked or are taking
the full force of the attack, they
are working on this now.

EasyNET experiencing DoS attacks
EasyNET's network was experiencing
DoS attacks this morning which caused
many of its customers including us
to experience packet loss, it has
almost disappeared now but leaving
about 1% packet loss still on going,
we hope this will be resolved as the
day progresses.

BT Mail Servers Experiencing Issues
We are noticing a lot of mail
queuing on our mail servers directed
for BT, we are informed that they
are currently experiecing mail server
issues, we are regularly attempting
to flush the queues to try and get
this mail through but please be aware
that people who have mail forwarding
to a BT account may have a delay on
their mail.

GXN LINE FAILURE
Our GXN connectivity that serves
eSiteHost customers failed yesterday
at approximately 3.03 pm, connectivity
was intermittent until failing at
9.47 pm. We are informed that a series
of attacks on local BT routers caused
line issues and packet loss.
BT and GXN arrived at our premises
at 2.00pm full service was restored
by 5.14pm.
We would like to apologise on behalf
of our connectivity providers for
this unacceptable occurrence. We would
now like to advance the change from
the GXN block to our RIPE block so
we can peer with multiple providers,
an email will be sent out to all customers
within the next couple of days.
We would like to mention that the
DMC Group and its partners have invested
over £30,000 in connectivity
alone over the past year, unfortunately
when they get attacked the amount
doesn't matter, its out of our hands
and proves very aggravating and tedious.
Thank you for your continued support,
we do and shall continue to invest
in eliminating problems such as this,
we are truly sorry our providers have
caused us all to endure this.
Regards
Support

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL USERS!
Between September and December
DMC Group will be making a number
of serious internal network modifications,
to expand our service.
We now have a RIPE IP block and access
to AS meaning we can now complete
our BGP4 upgrade and peer with our
providers combined.
Over the cause of these months, we
shall be changing server ips from
our old GXN IP range to our new RIPE
ip block, this will mean eSite servers
and customers will have their ips
changes. We shall notify all customers
of dates as we approach, those using
alternative DNS other than
eSite will be able to modify their
external records with our new IP's
once their account is changed.
Should you have any problems please
do not hesitate to contact us on support@esitehost.co.uk
